NaNoWriMo 2012, Day 1!

So our local theater is currently putting on The Rocky Horror Picture Show (play version) which my RA Chris and my roommate Dion are in, and for Halloween they had a special midnight show. Ellen, French exchange student Robin, Chinese exchange student Yu Chun, and I decided to go (me still dressed in my pseudo-slutty vampire slayer costume). The show was great, albeit very sexually graphic. You’d think that would be the end of my night. You’d be wrong.

Since the beginning of the semester I’ve been doing this thing called “Boxercast.” If you go to my YouTube channel you’ll see a playlist for all the ones I’ve hosted, but basically it’s my school’s morning announcements via internet video. Every Tuesday and Thursday (although occasionally I get the day off) I get up at 6am to get to the Boxercast office by 7am, at which time me and my partner, usually aforementioned RA Chris, research the stories we need to report (both on campus and withing the Portland area), write a 2 minute script, find photos, film one of us reading that day’s script, edit everything together, and upload it to YouTube before 8am.

Chris, being in the show that ended at 2am, and me, watching the show that ended at 2am, decided a few days ago that we definitely did not want to get up at 6am to do stupid Boxercast merely three or four hours after getting to bed, so we cleared it with our boss lady to film at 2:30am. We did, it turned out pretty decent, and we went our separate ways.

Then I got back to my room to finish filming an impromptu Cooking with Gandalf with Ellen. At the point where we stopped recording, it was about 3:30am, and I realized it was the first day of NaNoWriMo and that the only time I would have to write would be, well, at 3:30am, since I was definitely not going to get up any earlier than 11:30am, I have class from basically 1pm-4:20pm, and then I have debate practice and a soccer game until 8:30pm. Essentially, I was going to have no time to write, and since I was already up and moving about, I decided to knock out day 1 of NaNoWriMo 2012 a mere three hours after said day began.

And I freaking DID IT. Granted, a large portion of that word count is an existing blog from 2010, since my NaNoWriMo/senior thesis novel will closely follow the events of my last semester in high school, but still. It’s almost 5am and I’ve already written over 2000 words in my senior thesis novel. COME AT ME, BRO.

What's up, my dudes?
