Happy Birthday, Bri!

I will dedicate this blog to saying ‘Happy Birthday’ to our esteemed webmistress. And since that can be done with a small amount of words, this is a short posting.

Happy Birthday, Bri, and have many more in the future! Enjoy being one year older, one year closer to being a legal adult and the privileges it entails, one year closer to graduation, one year closer to college, one year closer to working for a living, one year closer to marriage, one year closer to children, one year closer to retirement, and one year closer to death. Enjoy today!

I’ve got my things, I’m good to go

For the musical portion of today’s witty addition to Bri’s Own World, I have awesome news. On January 31, which happens to be my birthday, Jason Mraz will be on Saturday Night Live!! He’s performing I’m Yours and Lucky! ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

But that leads to my next topic for today: birthdays.

Doesn’t it seem like a strange thing to celebrate?

“Congrats, you’ve survived another year!”

I mean, doesn’t it seem a bit gruesome?

“Happy Birthday, Bri!”

“As opposed to what?”

“…eh?”

“‘Happy death day’? ‘Happy day before you die’? Why are we celebrating that I’m still alive? Do you know something I don’t? Huh? Oh, dear god, I have cancer don’t I? Does Antonio Banderas have cancer too? Oh no oh no oh no…”

Maybe that’s not exactly how things are going to transpire, but you get my point. It’s a bit of a downer to celebrate being alive, don’t you think? I guess maybe it’s to compensate for the fact that, once most of us are dead, no one will remember us. So the longer we live, the better chance we have to be remembered. “Congrats, Bri! You’re 17 years more famous than you were when you were born! Awesome job not dying yet!”

…I have no way to end this blog. *Insert witty comment here*

I honestly have some of the best bad luck sometimes…

So it’s my birthday in a few days, and my dad bought some tickets to an NFL game for me and him and my grandpa and my big bro. I get to take a big crew somewhere fun every year as my birthday present, everyone just uses me as an excuse to go fun places and not get me a real b-day present.

Since we spend X-mas in So. Cal. every year, my dad bought tickets to the Broncos vs. Chargers game, which as you probably don’t know is a HEATED rivalry game. Just a few weeks ago it looked as if the game would mean nothing, the Broncos were up 2 games with 3 to go. All that needed to happen was for the Broncos to win one out of two, or the Chargers to lose out of two, and the Broncos would clinch. By a few crazy occurences that make me too angry to write about, the Chargers pulled off two very close games and the Donkos fell twice.

You’re probably lost, or you probably stopped reading this already, so I’m probably just talking to myself; but what this means is that the Broncos are 8-7, and the Chargers are 7-8 with the tie breaker. So the Broncos and the Chargers face off this Sunday, and whoever wins earns a playoff spot and will host a game to Indianapolis. This is what they call a “play-in” game, which means you have to play to get into the playoffs. This is just like a playoff game because the loser has to pack their bags and head home ’til next season.

To show you the importance of the game, the NFL pushed it from its regular time to the night game, which means it will be nationally televised, and I’m gonna be there!!! The adrenaline throughout Qualcom is gonna be absolutely NUTS, and the tickets are worth about 5 times as much as they were when we got them because of the importance of the game. This is one of the biggest games in either team’s recent history, and I hope my team wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
