Because life's more fun under critical analysis

[Day 77] Jaa?

There were three good things that happened today.

1. Even though I spent maybe ten seconds on my hair this morning, I got three positive compliments about it.

2. I was a constructive part of Congress brainstorming at debate

3. I had my first therapy appointment in almost two months and she taught me to meditate.

a. I might be able to sleep now.

It was silent. The bags under my eyes seemed to sag lower, and my eyelids begged to fall into place. There was almost nothing in the world that I wanted more than to lie down on those cold blue benches and sleep. But it was cold and I’d forgotten a coat. So I kept my eyes open in the vain attempt to awaken myself. Read More…

[Day 67] Losing It

I had this idea after watching sXephil’s weight loss video, but I didn’t think I’d have the energy to actually film/edit it. Guess I was wrong.

[Day 38] Lost in Stereo

P6250189When I fall down, I laugh. When I run into something and bruise myself in some way, I laugh. This could be a result of higher levels of testosterone in my system, which is unlikely because I should have seen more radical symptoms by now. So the only other thing I can think of that would have caused this behavior is my upbringing. And by ‘upbringing’, I mean “one and two year old Bri running around the house with her dad tripping her as she runs past and then she laughs and starts running again”. Read More…

For the first time in three hours, I have down time, so I’ve chosen this small victory to write today’s blog. If you’re wondering what I’ve been doing for three hours, I’ll tell you. Actually, I’ll tell you whether you’re wondering or not. I’ve been at my high school for three hours, working on the school paper. Normally I wouldn’t mind, but since I didn’t get any sleep last night, I’m a bit out of it. Read More…

Dear Sam (last name removed to protect the innocent),

Usually I start off my letters with a brief description of who I am, but you already know who I am, so we’ll skip that step. On August 19th of this year, I started a year-long blog project entitled “365 Days of Bri” to rediscover myself. I’ll add the details at the end of this letter, but for now I’ll just explain your part. Every day of the week I have a different task to do, at once I’ve completed it I have to write about the experience in the blog. On Sundays like today, my task is to write a thank you letter to someone I’ve never met. Read More…

Photo 125Every month I’m going to start reflecting on what I’ve learned from my experiences. That way, I’ll have a better handle when I get to the year mark, and reflecting and self analyzing is good for the soul. Read More…

Photo 357I love that it’s 7:34 in the morning and something good already happened. Every week on Fridays, Jason Mraz’s Twitter asks for fan questions, and then on Mondays (or in this case, Tuesdays) he writes a blog post with 12 of his favorite questions. I’m sure you can already guess why my day’s so good. :) Read More…

[Day 9] Naturally Curious

Two years ago, standing in the sophomore hall of our high school, my friends and I found a folded note on top of the fire Photo 265extinguisher. The paper was a bright yellow and inside, there was some text and handwriting both. The text read: What’s YOUR secret? Write down one of your school-appropriate secrets that not many know for the yearbook. If you feel comfortable, you can write your name. If not, that’s ok too. Thanks! The person who was given this slip of paper wrote something profane that I won’t repeat but had to do with… relations with another student that we all knew. Read More…

[Day 3] My Dislocated Thumb

Today is the day for writing about someone important in my life. This isn’t something I have to wait the rest of the day to write, so I’m at school right now.DSCN1911 Read More…
