[Day 320] Surviving High School Tip #4: Seating Choice

There’s a lot to the psychology of picking a seat in class. My school was pretty overcrowded, so every class had from fifteen to sometimes even thirty kids. If your school generally has small class sizes, then this post might not really apply to you. But it might. I dunno. Continue reading “[Day 320] Surviving High School Tip #4: Seating Choice”

[Day 319] Surviving High School Tip #3: Writing Utensils

This tip might seem a little silly at first, especially because it’s so basic. But trust me, it’s more than absolutely necessary. It’s essential.

Tip: Always have extra pens/pencils. Like, four extra. At least. This year, I had a pencil bag stuffed full of lead, extra mechanical pencils, and pens. Continue reading “[Day 319] Surviving High School Tip #3: Writing Utensils”

A tempered response

Note from 2020: I won’t be editing this post but since it’s been getting a handful of views recently, please do keep in mind it was posted in 2010. I was 18 years old. I do not care about your opinions on Twilight and I barely care about my own. This lives on as an archive, not as a stated continued opinion or interest. If you want to know what my current interests are, check out my portfolio here.

This is a response to “Why I Hate Twilight“. The author gives 95 reasons, which I have posted below to adequately respond to. My response will be in red.

[Bri 2.0 BONUS!] In Defense of Twilight

Note from 2020: I won’t be editing this post but since it’s been getting a handful of views recently, please do keep in mind it was posted in 2010. I was 18 years old. I do not care about your opinions on Twilight and I barely care about my own. This lives on as an archive, not as a stated continued opinion or interest. With Eclipse coming out today, I felt it would be a good time to discuss a topic that’s been bugging me for a while. It seems like almost every self-proclaimed literature nerd on the internet absolutely hates the Twilight series, sometimes spilling over as a hatred for the author as well. And I think this is silly. So I thought that a post about why hating Twilight is stupid might be a good idea. If you don’t want to read it, though, I’ve included a video at the bottom of this post essentially saying the same thing as this post will. Continue reading “[Bri 2.0 BONUS!] In Defense of Twilight”

[Day 318] Surviving High School Tip #2: Taking Notes

Regardless of what classes you take, eventually there will be a need for you to take notes. And note-taking will be in many forms, each with its own special rules. If you’re like me, you hate taking notes more than almost anything else. But I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes, they really are needed. [Day 317] Surviving High School Tip #1: Essays

Essays are arguably the most important things you’ll need to know how to do during high school. You’ll write them in nearly every class, and when college applications come around, they’re what you’ll most need to focus on. Essays don’t have to be hard, and they don’t have to be painful. I’m here to give you some cheats, some tips, and some advice. Hopefully, something will be relevant to you. Continue reading “[Day 317] Surviving High School Tip #1: Essays”

Three posts, one day?!?

I think blogging has become my excuse not to write. Like, write in novels and stuff. Which I really need to start doing. But blogging is so much more FUN. Actually, that’s a lie. It’s equally fun, but more immediately gratifying. Anyways. That’s not the point of this post. What is the point of this post? I actually don’t remember… Continue reading “Three posts, one day?!?”

[Bri 2.0 BONUS] On being alone

Last night, after hanging out at a friend’s house with a couple people playing ping pong and watching Food Network, I took my favorite Anakin Skywalker towel up to our second floor porch and lay on my back. It was a lightly stormy night, with enough clouds to facilitate the sporadic strikes of lighting but to also still see the stars. I found the Big Dipper and Casseopia, my favorite constellation by far. It was 83 degrees, if the sign on my way home was anything to go by, but the wind made it feel much cooler.
