Lit terms have officially consumed my entire life. Cue the slo-mo and dramatic, obviously faked pyrotechnics! Continue reading “[Day 62] A Memory in Vers Libre”
[Day 61] Engineering Miracles
Dear Starbucks,
Since your comment email only allows me to write 2600 characters, I’ll keep this brief. Basically, I wanted to commend you on your brilliant fall coffee, particularly your pumpkin spice latte. It’s an incredible gift to mankind, and I would just like to thank you for this contribution. No matter how stressed or upset I am, your blend of espresso and pumpkin flavoring always perks me up. I look forward to leaving the house because of the sweet promise of what I associate with a warm, liquified pumpkin pie. I truly don’t know what could be better.
Regards,
Bri

[Day 59] Month Two In Retrospect
I’m going to do my “what I learned” a day early, because I enjoy posting random videos and I don’t really want to be tied down to a specific topic. I doubt anyone will mind. Continue reading “[Day 59] Month Two In Retrospect”
[Day 58] There are worse things in life
There’s this certain type of person that I really can not stand. I know you’ve seen or even encountered one at some point. They are the people who decide that, out of a group of friends, they dislike you the most. More than likely, the group enjoys your company better than the person who dislikes you, who we will henceforth call The Hateful One. Continue reading “[Day 58] There are worse things in life”
[Day 57] And on we go
I don’t have time for a long post today, because in about ten minutes I’m leaving for a journalism conference. But today I woke up thirty minutes before I had to in order to straighten my hair. I haven’t straightened my hair for a long time now, but I know how much easier it is to deal with when I’m traveling. So I went out on a limb and hoped that I could finish with this mass of hair before I had to finish packing and eat. And I did! It looks weird to me because I’ve become so used to seeing my large puff every morning, but I’m relieved that I don’t have to care for it for the next few days.
[Day 56] It’s a long time
For my high school paper, I am the editor with the least experience in page design. Our first issue this year featured five of my pages- almost all of which my managing editor helped me design. So this issue, I was determined to do it for myself.
I have two stories in my section this time, which is annoying, but it gave me more time to design. I had no idea how to make my pages interesting or creative, because I was afraid of making it look unprofessional. I normally don’t have to worry about that, but now I do.
The two stories I had were almost polar opposites; The Power of a Smile and something about vampires. But I had some ideas and I made them come to life. I called my managing editor over and asked for her opinion, worried that my creativity had gone too far. And to my great surprise, she liked it. The two of us aren’t the best of friends, but we’ve grown to respect each other, and knowing that I’d done something- one my own- that she approved of without question was, quite frankly, a great feeling.
But I’ll be honest; the best part of my day was when it was over.
[Day 55] You and I left our troubles far behind
The following is my account of the second day of the trip I took to Washington, DC, in 8th grade. Four years ago. Wow. Long time. For clarification, Redlands is the other middle school that went with us, this is how I wrote back in 8th grade, and I was in a room with four other girls. I didn’t like any of them, and they didn’t like me. I slept in a cot at the far end of our room and I was still in my annoying non-conformity stage. Enjoy. [Day 54] If you’re cute, you’ll rate
Dear Tyler Oakley,
Today, you relinked to your video about National Coming Out Day 2008. I’ve been subscribed to you on YouTube for about a year and following you on Twitter for several months, and I’ve always loved your content, but today I really felt a difference. I’d seen that video before, having watched all your videos at one point or another, but seeing it again after a such a long time seemed like a new experience. You’ve been known to make me laugh and make me consider different viewpoints, and today took that to a new level. Continue reading “[Day 54] If you’re cute, you’ll rate”
