[Day 338] Vegetarian

Do you REMEMBER this video?? It’s from September 2008! HOW CRAZY!

So I’ve pretty much been vegetarian-ish since. I say “ish” because there was a two month “I’M GOING TO EFFING EAT MEAT” period around Christmas, and then I eventually realized that chicken didn’t make me sick.

I like to call myself an “accidental vegetarian” because I didn’t stop eating meat for moral reasons. I stopped eating meat because after my initial experiment, it made me sick. Since that fateful September night, I have not eaten:

1. Bacon

2. Steak

Which is crazy, since I used to eat those all the time. When I was younger, my grandpa taught me to call steak “candy meat” because it was so good.

I rarely eat meat, and when I do, it’s usually because it can’t be avoided. Either it’s an integral part of a meal that I mostly eat around or I don’t have a better option. And while I can’t really justify calling myself a vegetarian any more, I am still very much a meatless eater.

What brought this post to mind was yesterday* we were out of the fake ham I usually use for sandwiches, so I decided to test my luck with one thin slice of actual, dead pig ham. And I spent the rest of the day feeling sick. Fake ham tastes SO much better and doesn’t make me sick.

There really isn’t much of a point to this blog other than the fact that I wanted to officially accept that I’m not really a vegetarian, but I’m mostly one.

*Not the ACTUAL yesterday, since I’m writing this post six days in advance.

  1. It’s really not. It’s just made of protein and it tastes exactly like ham. Bologna should not be compared to it because bologna is gross. We need to hang out. I haven’t seen you since Eclipse.

What's up, my dudes?
