Last week, I joined the resurgence for our school’s literary magazine. At that first meeting, I promised to create a presentation for website options, a submission email address, and a new poster design. You’d think that with speech and debate in full swing, newspaper deadlines bearing down, a 130 point portfolio due, a psychology test, a government test, three political blogs a week, and four lit term definitions/examples a week, not to mention blogging here every day and trying to finish my novel, I would be a bit more conservative with my time, but no.
After being accepted into my first choice college on Tuesday, I started thinking. Why should I join another group? It’s not like I need to feather my resume. But because I’d promised, I did the work anyways.
Today, we had the meeting where I presented, and it went really well. While I was describing what I’d done, I realized why I joined this club and volunteered to do so much. It was because I enjoy it so thoroughly. I love literature, website creating, and poster designing. I love helping people learn about technology and I love contributing my strengths to a group project. I enjoy being involved in diverse activities, and the different clubs on my resume aren’t for that resume, they’re for me. It just took being accepted into college to realize that.
And the high from that is still riding strong. 🙂
Have a great day!
Way to go, Bri! Glad your presentation went well.
Congrats on your “first choice” college acceptance too!
Life is good 🙂
