We’re talkin’ about playoffs?!?!

Wow. You know what I hate the most about the NFL? Overtime. The first team to score wins, and the first team to get the ball is decided on a COIN FLIP!!! The Chargers and Colts playoff game just went into overtime, and the Chargers got the ball first. They drove the ball down the field and won the game, all the while the MVP of the league, Peyton Manning (the Colts’ quarterback), watched from the sidelines with nothing to possibly do to stop them. And you’re telling me that’s fair?

College is fair, where each team gets the ball and a chance to score. The game isn’t decided on a 50-50 coin toss.

Can I get an amen?

Woohoo!!!

Well, Merry Christmas Scarface! I decided to sub in for you today, so I’ll continue on a point you made last week. I made a comment on his blog saying the Broncos were going to be crushed by the Chargers, and, well, exactly that happened. The Broncos were up by THREE GAMES, and only had to win ONE to make it to the playoffs, but they blew it. The Chargers on the other hand, had to WIN three in a row, and did just that. On a sad note though, the Chiefs did not make it to the playoffs despite my hopes that the other teams in the division would cease to exist. Oh well, always next year!

I honestly have some of the best bad luck sometimes…

So it’s my birthday in a few days, and my dad bought some tickets to an NFL game for me and him and my grandpa and my big bro. I get to take a big crew somewhere fun every year as my birthday present, everyone just uses me as an excuse to go fun places and not get me a real b-day present.

Since we spend X-mas in So. Cal. every year, my dad bought tickets to the Broncos vs. Chargers game, which as you probably don’t know is a HEATED rivalry game. Just a few weeks ago it looked as if the game would mean nothing, the Broncos were up 2 games with 3 to go. All that needed to happen was for the Broncos to win one out of two, or the Chargers to lose out of two, and the Broncos would clinch. By a few crazy occurences that make me too angry to write about, the Chargers pulled off two very close games and the Donkos fell twice.

You’re probably lost, or you probably stopped reading this already, so I’m probably just talking to myself; but what this means is that the Broncos are 8-7, and the Chargers are 7-8 with the tie breaker. So the Broncos and the Chargers face off this Sunday, and whoever wins earns a playoff spot and will host a game to Indianapolis. This is what they call a “play-in” game, which means you have to play to get into the playoffs. This is just like a playoff game because the loser has to pack their bags and head home ’til next season.

To show you the importance of the game, the NFL pushed it from its regular time to the night game, which means it will be nationally televised, and I’m gonna be there!!! The adrenaline throughout Qualcom is gonna be absolutely NUTS, and the tickets are worth about 5 times as much as they were when we got them because of the importance of the game. This is one of the biggest games in either team’s recent history, and I hope my team wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What up?

One of the stupidest thing I can think of in sports is the way college football has their postseason… wow it’s bad.

So after the season ends, experts decide who are the best teams and who deserves to have the chance to play in the featured games. It is stupid as heck. With only an 11 or so game season, it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell which teams are the very best. So a team that could be the best team in the country, just by voting, not even get a chance to play for the national championship, it just makes no sense. The teams don’t even have even schedules, a 2 loss team in a very tough division could be much much much better than an undefeated team from a weak division. Doesn’t a normal tournament sound like the perfect way to settle all these problems? Then wouldn’t everyone get the chance to play into the championship game?

Let me just give you the low down on this year’s championship game BS. So 4 teams from the roughest divisions across the US all have 1 loss. Coincidentally, two of them played each other, and the other two also played each other. So here’s what happened.

Florida (one loss) played Alabama(no losses). Florida won, and automatically overtook them. Florida will be in the championship game, seemingly because Florida won the head to head match up.

Oklahoma played Texas. Texas beat Oklahoma, so each have one loss. However, Oklahoma will be in the championship game instead of Texas…

So Florida is better than Alabama because they beat Alabama; but Oklahoma is better than Texas even though they were beaten by Texas. What the heck?
