A Brief Camp NaNo Update

A couple weeks ago I blogged about my involvement in something called “Camp NaNoWriMo”, which I’m not going to explain again because I already blogged about it. If you need a refresher, click here. Today I just want to give you some updates.

So I had a LOT less time that I thought I would to write. If you read my blog from Monday, you know that I work with kids, sometimes for eleven hours a day three days a week. Even though I generally have three or four days [mostly] off a week, the only thing I can ever make myself do on my days off is sit on my butt and watch Bones. Point is: not a lot of writing.

But still- I’ve written over 6,000 words in the actual book, I’ve drawn maps and schematics for different locations, I’ve completed and honed my full outline, and I’m more confident than ever that this will be my senior thesis project. That’s not bad for two weeks, eh? Especially because my plan was mostly to just, well, plan. I’ve got two years to work on this. There’s really no pressure to finish in under a month. Plus, there’s another Camp in August, so I’ll probably end up writing more during that time (my job only goes through the first week of August, so I’ll have some time off).

I feel really good about this project, though my word count isn’t very high right now. I love my characters, my story, and the fact that this is what I get to study in college. I am so lucky to follow my passions, as financially ridiculous as they may be. I’ll update you again at the end of the month, and we’ll see where I’ve gone. Thanks for your continued support!

What's up, my dudes?
