Catchers Playlist

About a year ago, around the time I participated in (and won!) my first NaNoWriMo, I ended up creating a playlist of music that fit with the themes and feel of the story. You can see that here. (Note: it may look like the links are dead because you can’t see anything, but if you click on the square outlines it’ll take you to the playlists. Promise. I checked)

I don’t actually remember how to export and embed a playlist from iTunes anymore, so I’m just gonna mention a few notable songs from the playlist I made for my new project, Catchers! If you want to read about this project so you can be in on all the references I’m gonna make in this post, click here.

All Along the Watchtower- Bear McCreary

This song is actually from a really intense Battlestar Galactica episode, but I thought it fit with the vibe.

You Don’t Know Me (feat. Regina Spektor)- Ben Folds

…get it? Because everyone looks the same?? (I’m so clever)

The Great Escape- Boys Like Girls

BECAUSE THEY’RE ALWAYS ESCAPING FROM CAGES!

Bad- The Cab

Em’s definitely a bad girl sometimes…

You Know My Name- Chris Cornell

From the new Bond movies…. and it could definitely be played behind Em whenever she does something epic.

Home- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

I just really love this song… and since Em and her crew don’t have a home….

Fighter (Glee Cast Version)- Darren Criss

Obvious. Hardcore. Kinda sexy.

Pretty Down To Your Bones- The Hush Sound

B-b-because they all look the same! But they’re still the same in their bones!

Hey Hey Hey (We’re All Gonna Die)- Jack’s Mannequin

They lead very dangerous lives….

Who Needs Shelter- Jason Mraz

BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE HOMES!

Revolution- Jim Sturgess (from Across the Universe)

…duh?

I Will Go Anywhere With You- Julia Nunes

Em’s a leader! People FOLLOW her!

Soldier On- Oasis

I forgot how much I like Oasis… plus… they must SOLDIER ON!

All Is Not Lost- OK Go

Same vibe as the song before… things will get tough for my characters, but… ALL IS NOT LOST.

One Girl Revolution- Saving Jane

Self explanatory?

Globes and Maps- Something Corporate

Lots of maps and travel in this book.

Miles Apart- Yellowcard

For Em and Hugo… who you don’t know about yet 😉

Those are the most notable examples from the playlist, though there are 65 total songs. Some are just for the feel, if not the lyrics, but overall I’m pretty proud of myself about this playlist.

What's up, my dudes?
