I’m one of millions of kids that is told by their parents, “No dating until you’re sixteen”. For some reason, I imagined this occasion as follows; On the day of my 16th birthday, the voice of my best male friend (to be decided) would come over the intercom at school (he’d figured out a way to jack it… obviously) and announce that I was now eligible to date. A hoard of attractive high school boys (since everyone would know who I was)Â would stampede towards me…. Continue reading “[Day 102] I deconstruct my thoughts”

[Day 100] Made it
This is an incredible landmark. As of now, I’m going to attempt to make you a list, internet. A list of 100 things I have learned from this journey thus far. Continue reading “[Day 100] Made it”
[Day 99] Not so mellow
I went to “mentor” my fifth grader again, and each time I go, I just get more and more disheartened. This kid knows more about computers at ten than I will fifty years from now. But even as I wallow in self-pity for my lack of significant computer knowledge to keep up with him, being back in the walls of my elementary school will always be magical.
Oh, and my wifi proxy/password I use at the high school works there too. Life’s little victories, eh?
[Day 98] Binoculars
When I woke up this morning, or rather, was awoken by my father, I was convinced it was Sunday. Darn you debate for screwing up my internal clock! Continue reading “[Day 98] Binoculars”
[Day 97] Raise your hopeful voice
Before this year, I never studied. Literally. Never. Not for quizzes, not for tests, not for anything. Sure, there might be some cramming immediately before the test (and when I say immediately, I mean like five minutes before the bell rings), but no studying. I always thought I didn’t need it. Continue reading “[Day 97] Raise your hopeful voice”
[Day 95] Downslide
Last year, I helped my high school newspaper create a website, and I am still the primary webmaster. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and hope that whoever the webmaster is next year can continue to maintain it.
This year, today, actually, I created another website, for the school literary magazine. I like making websites.
[Day 94] Happy Blog Week 1
Last week, I joined the resurgence for our school’s literary magazine. At that first meeting, I promised to create a presentation for website options, a submission email address, and a new poster design. You’d think that with speech and debate in full swing, newspaper deadlines bearing down, a 130 point portfolio due, a psychology test, a government test, three political blogs a week, and four lit term definitions/examples a week, not to mention blogging here every day and trying to finish my novel, I would be a bit more conservative with my time, but no. Continue reading “[Day 94] Happy Blog Week 1”
[Day 93] Let’s do 21 first
Whenever I go to the Chinese place in the mall, I forget what kind of rice I like. See, I like the white rice with my food, but I don’t get a choice between “white” and “brown”. The people there call them “steamed” and “fried”. And I always feel bad if I say “the white one” because that wasn’t one of the choices. Continue reading “[Day 93] Let’s do 21 first”
[Day 91] Love’s in my heart like a bomb
I went back to my old elementary school today, to volunteer with a fifth grader avidly interested in technology. Liking to think myself as a technology buff, I was quite excited to pass on my knowledge to the younger generation. I felt like I was pretty hot stuff.
