In Which I Make Awesome Bad Decisions

Why have all my recent blogs been about me and my life? Where are the survival guides and pop culture reviews?? I DON’T KNOW THIS IS MY WEBSITE I DO WHAT I WANT GEEZ.

So speaking of my recent blogs, remember I listed all the things I’m doing this semester? If not, watch this video:

Things have changed, slightly, for the busier. Let’s do this in list form.

THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED:

1. My photography and digital imaging classes, which are from 8am-12:50pm every Monday and Friday, are ending in the next week and a half, which means that every day of the week now I won’t have any class commitments until 1pm. Whew!

2. I’m actually kind of good at soccer now. Defense, at least. If I’m between you and the goal, YOU SHALL NOT PASS.

THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN ADDED:

1. Lunchbox Theater. For some reason I decided to audition for the most recent student-run theater show, and I got the lead part in a short play written by my lovely friend Michael. Those performances will be the 25th and 26th of October, so just three weeks away. I still don’t even have the script.

2. New work study job! With the speech team. Since speech is starting up again (see #3) and I’ll probably have to miss more work study opportunities for the Tutoring Center (though I still have that job), I took the speech team’s work study job as well. I’ll mostly be updating and maintaining our website, from what I understand, and making videos to advertise our program. I just wanted to make sure that I would get the maximum work study money I could, because I am broke and I would like to not be.

3. Speech is now officially out of the box. I just got my four events checked off for our first tournament next weekend, at Lewis and Clark College! In between preparing my own events, as one of the senior members of the team, I have also been hosting debate practices with Colton, getting all our new freshmen up to speed. We also have a new mentoring program this year, so I’ve been keeping up with three or four freshmen in particular (being their mentor) to make sure they’re acclimating alright and aren’t too overwhelmed.

4. I’m also going to be helping run a new weekly open mic at a local cafe. Why? Not sure. But I’m doing it, apparently.

5. NaNoWriMo. I know I’ve talked about it in the periphery for a while, but I’m super dedicated to this idea. I’ve only ever participated in this event once, two years ago, and I’m excited to get back into it. This year the stakes are higher, though, because my goal is to have a rough draft of my senior thesis novel by the end. Wish me luck!

6. Apparently I’m a senior now? I keep getting group emails specifically calling out seniors. The last one began “Hello and Congratulations Seniors!”, which, I mean, thanks, but it doesn’t really apply to me. OR DOES IT?

7. I’ve mathed out all my remaining classes/credits that I need to take for the next three semesters of my college career, and here are my findings:

14 total classes left to take (that are required)

46 total credits

Average: 15 credits per semester

IF ALL GOES WELL, next semester I will be taking:

-Digital Art

-Travel Writing

-Advanced Fiction Writing

-Research Methods in Humanities

– Mass Media Law and Ethics

Which rounds out to 18 credits, meaning that, for my senior year of college, I’ll have:

9 total classes left, including

-An as-of-yet undetermined 400 level Lit class

-Senior Seminar (which is both semesters, so it counts as two classes)

-Professional Writing and Editing

-An as-of-yet-unknown internship

-Elements of Multimedia Design

-Web Design

-Designing for Electronic Media

-Publication, editing, and design

all coming out to:

30 total credits left.

BAM.

That’s all from me for now. I’ve got to go to class and then pretend that I have a social life! HAH!

What's up, my dudes?
