Because life's more fun under critical analysis

I'm pushing my luck

We’re taking a break from holiday blogs for this special announcement: I DID IT AGAIN! HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW, WORLD??

Story time. So pretty much everyone knows the Dylan story by now. It was one of my main motivations in starting this project, and it has almost been completely resolved because of this project. But I’m here today (tonight) to tell you about a different saga that occurred almost at the exact same time, just in an entirely different facet of my life. Read More…

It’s nearing the end of the week, and Ms. Greb is late again. My 6th grade Spanish class is in an uproar, climbing on desks, chattering away without regard for the volume of their pre-pubescent voices. I’m sitting quietly in my seat, textbook open to a vocabulary page, trying to commit the Spanish term for bookshelf to memory. (Fun fact: I still don’t know it. Thanks, public school education.) [Day 95] Downslide

Last year, I helped my high school newspaper create a website, and I am still the primary webmaster. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and hope that whoever the webmaster is next year can continue to maintain it.

This year, today, actually, I created another website, for the school literary magazine. I like making websites.

I went back to my old elementary school today, to volunteer with a fifth grader avidly interested in technology. Liking to think myself as a technology buff, I was quite excited to pass on my knowledge to the younger generation. I felt like I was pretty hot stuff. Read More…

Photo 397Given the opportunity, most all teenagers will procrastinate. Essay due in next Tuesday? I’ll wait ’til Monday night. Or at least, I used to wait. Read More…

[Day 64] VlogBrothers Day

If you’re familiar with Brotherhood 2.0, then you’ll get the reference in the title. But if you don’t, it’s ok. Anyways. Even if you don’t know me, finding my blog would clue you in on two things; I’m a narcissist and I’m a technology junkie. Let’s focus on the latter, however. My life is consumed with “textual” communication, through text messages, emails, and Facebook messages, so today I wanted to get away from all of that. Read More…

[Day 63] Video Girl

Photo 378My day started off with a near-inability to get out of bed, followed by the realization that I’m developing a muffin top (google it). Then I ate an unsatisfying, silent breakfast, followed by a quick ten minutes of email checking and being threatened with having my door taken off its hinges. Not a great beginning, but I was determined to find something good about today. Read More…

Photo 380The following is my account of the second day of the trip I took to Washington, DC, in 8th grade. Four years ago. Wow. Long time. For clarification, Redlands is the other middle school that went with us, this is how I wrote back in 8th grade, and I was in a room with four other girls. I didn’t like any of them, and they didn’t like me. I slept in a cot at the far end of our room and I was still in my annoying non-conformity stage. Enjoy. Read More…

On my first day of kindergarten, there was only one person I knew, and her name was Olivia. We’d been in the same gymnastics class, which seems to have made a more lasting impression on her, being a dancer now and all. So when I stepped into the room with hundreds of toys lined up on the rows of desks, I noticed her and didn’t leave her side the entire day. I was terrified, so a familiar face was reassuring. [Day 42] The Meaning of Life

Speech and debate pretty much consumes my life. Everything is so… empty without it. I love the people, the events, and the overall feeling that comes with it. I am a narcissist, so hearing my own voice is always nice, I am argumentative, which is helpful for debating, and I am dramatic, which is great for my second event, poetry interpretation. Read More…
