I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve been posed this situation, or seen it posed in literature and movies and TV shows. “If you were stuck on a desert island, what would you bring?” This week, I’m going to explore the 7 things I’d need with me, but with my own twists. Continue reading “[Day 309] Marooned Week 1: Predictable”

[Bri 2.0 Bonus Update] Theme Weeksies
I was just going to add all of this housekeeping stuff to the first post of the new theme week (I’ll get to that in a second), but I decided it can be its own post. With 56 days left in this project, I feel you (five) readers deserved some updates and information as to how I’m going to swing this. Continue reading “[Bri 2.0 Bonus Update] Theme Weeksies”
[Day 308] Because my lips hurt real bad! (Where’s my chapstick?)
I was commissioned to do a “Bri’s World” video about nationals, but I think it’s probably safer to just leave it be. It is what it is, let’s move on. (I was one rank away from breaking to semi-finals and Joe has a picture of shirtless Captain Apollo from BSG as his phone’s background) Continue reading “[Day 308] Because my lips hurt real bad! (Where’s my chapstick?)”
[Day 307] BCILAAMTBW Week 7: Nick Carroway
Those of you who are reading my Eugenia updates will probably recognize the last name of my final fictional lover, as I borrow it for my main character. Meg Carroway has a nice ring, don’t you think? And it didn’t hurt that the last name is attached to one of my favorite characters in literature of all time. Continue reading “[Day 307] BCILAAMTBW Week 7: Nick Carroway”
[Day 306] BCILAAMTBW Week 6: Kartik
One of my all time favorite series (after Harry Potter, of course), is the Gemma Doyle trilogy. A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing chronicle the unlikely magical heroine’s journey from spoiled English schoolgirl with a wry sense of humor to savior of the world as we know it. And along the way, she meets an Indian boy named Kartik who helps her with this journey. Continue reading “[Day 306] BCILAAMTBW Week 6: Kartik”
[Day 305] BCILAAMTBW Week 5: Edward Cullen
Alright, alright. Get your collective groan out of the way now. Good? Ok. Now take a deep breath. Do you trust me? *holds out hand* The answer is yes. One more deep breath. Close your eyes, and let me take you on a journey… *slaps nonbeliever* I don’t want to hear what you think of the Twilight series! I don’t care! Now shut up and let’s move on with the blog. Good? Good. Continue reading “[Day 305] BCILAAMTBW Week 5: Edward Cullen”
[Day 304] BCILAAMTBW Week 4: Charlie Banks
Two Charlies in two days! A mini-mini arc! I doubt many of you will recognize this character’s name, so I’ll fill you in: Charlie Banks is one of the two main characters in The Last Days of Summer, my favorite book that I mention in all sorts of different posts. (here and here and here and here and here and here) Charlie is the 3rd baseman for the New York Giants and regular correspondent to Joey Margolis, the book’s 12 year old other main character. And Charlie and I are meant to be. Continue reading “[Day 304] BCILAAMTBW Week 4: Charlie Banks”
[Day 303] BCILAAMTBW Week 3: Charlie Weasley
This three-part Harry Potter mini-arc finishes with the sexy, adventurous, second-eldest Weasley brother, Charlie! This post isn’t going to be very long, but trust me, he’s a necessary part of this week.
Charlie is a risk taker. He trains dragons in Romania, for goodness sakes! And ladies, don’t deny that danger is pretty darned attractive. Life with this Weasley brother won’t ever be dull.
Bonus points: Unlike Harry and Ron, Charlie is actually single for the entirety of the Harry Potter series. There is still the magic bonus, plus you would get to travel and go on wild adventures.
Compatibility rating: 8.
Does more even need to be said?
(Picture taken by Charlie as I rode behind him on a dragon on our honeymoon. Sigh.)
[Day 302] BCILAAMTBW Week 2: Ron Weasley
This is the second of 3 Harry Potter inspired match-made-in-heaven posts. And of course, this week wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of one Ronald Weasley.
People will argue with me that Ron is kind of a wimp. “Look what happened in the 7th book! He ran out on them! He’s a spoiled brat!” Yeah, but he came back and destroyed a Horcrux and helped Harry and Hermione escape from Gringotts on the back of a freaking DRAGON. So don’t talk to me about being a wimp. Have you ever destroyed a Horcrux that tried to turn you on your best friends because you’re so in love with a girl you never thought would love you back? NO. Continue reading “[Day 302] BCILAAMTBW Week 2: Ron Weasley”
[Day 301] BCILAAMTBW Week 1: Harry Potter
For those of you who don’t watch my Twitter updates to the right of this post, for the next week the theme is: Book Characters I Love and Am Meant To Be With (BCILAAMTBW) Week. It’s part satire, part bibliophilia, part discussion of the perfect man. And it’s only fitting to start out with Harry Potter.* Continue reading “[Day 301] BCILAAMTBW Week 1: Harry Potter”
