My top 100: Part 1 of 5

For the next 5 weeks I’ll be revealing my top 100 favorite movies. I’ll say a little something on why I like them too.

100- Enter the Dragon

This martial arts movie from the 70s starring Bruce Lee is still holding up as one of the greatest action movies of all time. It made me a fan of Lee.

99- Crash

This Best Picture winner from a few years ago shows how far racism has gotten into our society. An excellent screenplay is what makes it so good.

98- A Few Good Men

One of my favorite court room dramas, the classic lines make it so memorable. I don’t care how crazy Tom Cruise is, he’s still a good actor.

97- Once Upon a Time in America

Sergio Leone’s crime epic is stunning through all 4 hours. De Niro is truly one of the greatest actors of all time.

96- A Beautiful Mind

Ron Howard, while not the greatest director, is always solid with his movies, and I think this was his best. Crowe also had a memorable role.

95- Hulk

I don’t care that most people don’t like this first one by Ang Lee, I think that the actors fit more and the hulk looked better than the remake.

94- Mean Streets

One of Scorsese’s first, its still a great movie. This also put Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel on the map.

93- Me, Myself, and Irene

This is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. Just an all around funny movie that is mostly credited to Carrey.

92- The Terminator

An action classic, I actually liked this one better than the 2nd. The special effects were great for the budget and Arnold finally found a role that fits.

91- Office Space

Hilarious movie that just keeps you laughing all the way through. Few other comedies can keep it up like this.

90-Monsters, Inc.

Pixar is easily one of the best hollywood studios because it keeps making great movies, and very few have been merely ok.

89- Spider-Man

I’m a sucker for superhero movies, especially Marvel ones. I just loved the “choice” scene in this so much that it was better than the 2nd.

88- The Hustler

A classic pool movie, Paul Newman gave a timeless performance. The pool scenes were just as intense now as they were in the 60s.

87- Edward Scissorhands

Burton as a director normally makes the same kinds of movies, but this one was great since it made me care for a romance, something few movies do.

86- Trainspotting

Danny Boyle’s first film about drug addicts in England is just so darn enjoyable and funny. This also put him on track for the oscar this year for Slumdog Millionaire.

85- Daredevil

While critics hated it, I loved this action movie. It was dark, funny, and had plenty of great fight scenes. I still need to see the “R” version that is supposed to be even better.

84- Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Stanley Kubrick is easily the best artistic director to ever live. This is no exception, a satire on the cold war and the consequences. Peter Sellers is hilarious at the end.

83- Live Free or Die Hard

The 4th film in the Die Hard series shows that Bruce Willis can still make great action movies. But if you think this is good, check out the first.

82- Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones’s first adventure still holds up today as an action classic. The “sword vs. gun” scene is one of my favorites of all time

81- The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Visually its stunning and keeps me entranced the whole time. Then, the performances are excellent with great character development. The slow plot even adds to these aspects, making it all the better.

What's up, my dudes?
